The first Competence Center in Greece for 5G will be based at the POS4work Innovation Hub! 

We are of course talking about p-NET, the Competence Center of the University of Patras.

With an initial investment of more than 2 million euros and the participation of major academic institutions, research institutions and large companies, p-NET aspires to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the 5th generation communications industry.

06/07/2018 "Energy and Spatial Planning" event in Larisa

The Association of Greek Engineers of Urban Planning, Regional Development and Technical Support (SEMPXPA), organized on 5th of July  the event "Energy and Spatial Planning" in Larissa, Greece.

Private engineers, employees of the Urban Planning of the Municipality of Larissa and Tirnavos and the Directorate of Environment and Spatial Planning of Thessaly’s Region were attend at the event. INTENSSS-PA approach and results were presented during the event and the participants had the chance to exchange views and experiences regarding the weaknesses of the current institutional framework and the procedures that are followed in relation to the integration of energy into spatial planning.

The event was aiming to highlight the value of integrated energy spatial planning and to emphasize that this strategy should be adopted at regional and local level.

The seminar “Energy Plans and roadmaps for sustainable future”, which is  co-organised by INTENSSS-PA, is going to be part of the EUSEW 2018 policy conference and  will include a presentation of the project and the project cases in the Castilla y Léon and Karditsa regions.

23/04/2018 INTENSSS-PA presented to the Hellenic Association of Urban and Regional Planners

On Saturday April 21th 2018 in Volos, Greece, the results of the INTENSSS-PA Project were presented and disseminated to the members of the Hellenic Association of Urban and Regional Planners (SEMPXPA).

The presentation included the key elements of the Project, the design approach that was adopted, the RLLs tool and their operation, its pilot application in the framework of developing the Energy-Spatial Plan of Karditsa’s Region, as well as the transfer of experience and knowledge from the RLLs in the other regions of the INTENSSS-PA project.

The presentation was followed by questions and discussion with the audience about the possibilities of implementing the RLL tool in spatial planning, the energy-related parameters that need to be considered in the spatial planning processes in Greece and the ways though which integrated sustainable energy planning can be incorporated into spatial planning and development programming.

Some of the conclusions that emerged from the discussion were:

  • The need to institutionally safeguard the spatial nature of ad hoc energy projects
  • The establishment of a mechanism capable of coordinating and monitoring energy efficiency policies at different levels.
  • The establishment of relations and links between spatial planning and energy planning in the country.

20/04/2018 Training workshop for the exploitation of biomass

On Thursday, April 19th the RLL of Karditsa organized a training workshop on the "Practices and Approaches to Biomass Exploitation".

During the workshop, the Electronic Waste Registry function was presented and a discussion was held on the mandatory registration of biomass-managing bodies in this registry.

Additionally, practices of utilize the urban branch-cleaning were also presented and the participants also discussed the approaches on how to organize the supply chain of this biomass source.

29/01/2018 Kareditsa's RLL workshop on energy-spatial planning

On the 26th and 27th of January a training workshop was organized in the framework of INTENSSS-PA project. The main topics of the workshop were the integrated energy-spatial planning and the energy utilization of biomass in Karditsa’s region.

During the first day, proposals for energy and spatial planning were presented, while on the second day, the issue of the energy use of biomass in the region of Karditsa was analyzed extensively.

03/07/2017 INTENSSS-PA project in the “3rd International Conference on Changing Cities”

The 3rd International Conference on Changing Cities was organized in Syros Island, Greece on 26th to 30th June 2017. The special session “Integrated Sustainable Energy Spatial Planning” was chaired by the INTENSSS-PA partner SEMPXPA (Hellenic Association of Urban and Regional Planners, Greece) and co-chaired by the INTENSSS-PA Project.

The INTENSSS-PA Web-based Database provides, in a structured way, the existing knowledge related to the integration of energy as a theme into spatial planning and physical and socio-economic landscapes. This knowledge has been identified through a systematic review implemented within INTENSSS-PA project and the INTENSSS-PA outcomes.
